Barbara K. Johnsen, age 93, of Wayne, IL, died at River Glen of St. Charles, IL on Wednesday, 12/24/25.

Born 6/28/1932 in St. Louis, MO to Homer G. and Lucille (Barker) Klene. On 12/17/1955, she married Alan R. Johnsen.

Barbara attended Elmhurst College, Elmhurst, IL and worked as a secretary in the banking and publishing industries before beginning her role as a wife, mother and eventually, grandmother. Barbara will be especially remembered as a talented needleworker.

Survived by her children Laura (Ken) Walters of Wayne, IL and Julie Malone of Winfield, IL; grandchildren Alan (Jessica) Walters of Wilmette, IL, Kim Merwin of Arlington Heights, IL, Megan Malone of Lombard, IL, Katy (Jeremy) Zakrzewski of Chicago, IL, Mary Malone of Elmhurst, IL, Jack Merwin of Indianapolis, IN and Molly Malone of Winfield, IL.

Preceded in death by her husband (1/3/1984), parents (1984 and 1988), daughter Amy L. Merwin (10/20/2021), son-in-law Mike Malone (7/15/2013) and sister Carol K. Sick (8/24/21).

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, 1/3/2026 at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles at 405 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL with Pastor Larry Dieffenbach of Little Home Church, Wayne, IL officiating. Burial will be at North Cemetary, St. Charles, IL. Visitation will be from 10 am, Saturday, 1/3/2026 at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles
