A carpenter by trade had him precisely cutting firewood to perfection for a campfire even into his late eighties.
Forever young at heart. Greeting everyone with a smile and giving away Miraculous Medals was his favorite pastime in his later years. Always wanting to make a positive difference in the lives he was blessed to touch.

"Bert was so generous and joyful in his love of God and Mary. He is the man who handed out miraculous medals, prayer cards and books at 9AM Mass. And he would reach out to so many people at Mass. He would almost always stop and talk with me. Lee and I noticed he had not been at Mass recently and then heard his name today with the prayers for the recently departed. I will miss him but I know we have very beloved saint joyfully praying for us."
Colleen Biggio from Elmhurst, IL

"I met Bert in St Patrick’s church. He was a very loving gentleman. Loved to have donuts on Donut Sundays. We would pack him up a take home package. I miss his friendliness and Christian love. I wear my miraculous metal on my purse. May in rest in peace with our Lord Jesus."
