Catherine Anne Nordlund, 65, passed away at her home on January 9, 2019.
Catherine, or Cathy to everyone who knew her, was born in Chicago on February 14, 1953, to Jeanette and Edward Prokop, and was the older of two siblings.
Catherine attended Northern Illinois University, where the met the love of her life, Robert Nordlund. They were married in September 1976 and the couple had a daughter, Kristen, in 1985.
Catherine was a secretary and office manager for the early part of her career before following her passion and working as a special education teaching aide. She worked in West Chicago for a year before moving to District 303, and spent 21 years working at Haines Middle School.
She was an amazing and caring daughter, mother, sister, teacher, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and husband. She is survived by her daughter Kristen and a loving family.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 15 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Cathy’s honor maybe directed to the National Education Association Foundation. For further information, please call the funeral home at (630) 584-0060.
