Clifford Leroy Bock passed away October 2, 2020. He was born in Pawnee City, Nebraska, on June 4, 1930, son of Mabel (Heuppelsheuser) and Leslie Bock.
Devoted husband of 59 years to the late Norma Bock (nee Johnson), his high school sweetheart whom he married May 6, 1951.
Loving father to Debbie (Mike) Clark and Sandy (K.C.) Bock, adored grandfather of Hannah (Eric) Manley, Emma (Joshua) Stevenson, and Tyler (Kristen) Clark, and great-grandfather to Clark and Della Manley. He is also survived by brother-in-law Robert (Laurie) Johnson and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Georgia Sanders and Betty Thomas.
Clifford was raised on his parents’ farm. The beloved farm is still in the family, and until recent years, the annual destination for the family reunions where lasting memories were made.
Cliff enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951, served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1955.
In 1960, Cliff graduated from University of Nebraska with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was recruited by International Harvester where he was employed as an engineer until retirement. The job brought Cliff and family to Naperville, IL in 1960 where Cliff and Norma became active members of Grace United Methodist Church and Cliff joined the Jaycees.
Cliff’s hobbies included golfing and antique tractors. He volunteered with the Friends of Danada helping to preserve farm equipment. Most often he could be found repairing things at his workbench, in his garage or enjoying nature in any season.
When Cliff’s health declined, he eventually moved to Inspirations in St. Charles, IL where he received excellent care from Gayle and her wonderful staff.
Cliff was a cherished husband and father, known by family and friends for his kindness and patience. He will be greatly missed.
