David A. Wolff

March 14, 1947 - February 2, 2022

  • Funeral

David A. Wolff, age 74, died in hospice care on Wednesday, February 2,
2022. He was born on March 14, 1947, in Hammond Indiana to William and Lois
Wolff. David attended Purdue University, where he earned a degree in electrical
engineering, and where he met and married the love of his life, Janice Langan.

Dave spent his working life as an electronics engineer, concentrating on
display systems and appliance controls. In the pursuit of his career he was a
world traveler, including trips to Europe, Asia and all across the United States. For
vacations, however, he preferred the traditional “road trip,” especially to Oregon
and Arizona, where he and Janice visited their children and grandchildren.

Dave was a lifelong learner who enjoyed many varied hobbies and activities
throughout his life. He became proficient in photography and had his own
darkroom at home. He was also an avid woodworker and built many beautiful
pieces of furniture for his home, some of which he designed himself. When Dave
became interested in aviation he educated himself about the science of flying and
became an “armchair aviator” using flight simulation programs on his computer.
He extended his learning through video courses on such varied topics as
probability and statistics, cooking techniques, and, when he became a wine
enthusiast, the wines of various regions of the world. He also enjoyed building
larger Lego projects, especially with his grandchildren.

Dave is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice, his two daughters, Valerie
(Neil) Bradley and Dr. Andrea Wolff (husband Daniel Hull), his grandchildren,
Danny and Nicole Bradley, and his sister Nora (Ken) Rader. No funeral or
memorial service is planned at this time, but rather a celebration of Dave’s life to
be held when the weather is more conducive to travel. In lieu of flowers or other
gifts, Dave had requested that any contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.
