Obituaries

David Latimer Eddy, 90, died September 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.  He was greatly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The son of McChesney and Alberta Eddy, he was born July 3, 1936, in Hartford, Connecticut.  On May 15, 1976, he married Gaye Peterson.  They had a loving 50 years of blessed wedlock.

David earned a B.S. from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1960. After his graduation he headed West to the Chicago area for a position with The Northern Trust Company.  For 45 years he oversaw Treasury operations rising to the position of Treasurer before retiring in 2005.

He was very active in the churches he was a member of, including helping guide them through minister searches and finance oversight.  He was a member of The Congregational Church of Batavia for the past 50 years.

He enjoyed many activities including sports, especially baseball and the Cubs, studying the financial markets, watching storms come in from his porch and telling his classic “doozers” at bedtime.  He so enjoyed his beloved Cape Cod, spending many days riding waves and enjoying the beautiful beaches.

David is survived by his loving wife Gaye and their children Breese (Adrian) and Daniel (Colleen) Eddy and six grandchildren Cassandra Camacho, Clemente Camacho, Harper Eddy, Nora Eddy, Maeve Eddy and Cameron Eddy.

He is also survived by his five children from his previous marriage to Doris VanWyhe.

Craig (Julie) Eddy, Carol (Steve) Sievek, Dianne (Steve) Bonta, Linda (Tim) Clegg, Elizabeth (Jim) Brooks and 14 grandchildren; Jessica (Rob) Porter, Lisa (Dennis) Barnette, Michelle Eddy, Jason Albus, Ashley (Matt) Taylor, Ryan Daniel, Michelle (Trey) Holmes, Cooper (Jessica) Clegg, Matt (Allison) Bonta, Erin Bonta, Meghan Bonta, Sarah Bonta, Samantha Brooks, Brianna Brooks and 12 great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert and Gerald, and his daughter Taryn Eddy.

The funeral service will be held at Noon, Sunday October 25, 2026, at The Congregational Church of Batavia, 21 S. Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL, with Rev. Paige Wolfanger officiating. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, St Charles, IL.
