David Lewis Starr, 75, died on Monday, September 13, at his home
where he wanted to be after a long battle with cancer. He loved the
Lord, his family and his friends with all his heart and wanted them to
know that.The son of Charles and Helen Starr, David was born on April 22, 1946, at
Geneva Community Hospital in Geneva, IL and grew up in Elburn, IL.
On December 19, 1970 he married Wanda (Jones) Starr at Baker
Methodist Church chapel in St Charles. David and Wanda met while
working at Dukane Corporation shortly after David left the Air Force
where he proudly served for 4 years where 26 ½ months were spent
serving in Vietnam. David is a member of VFW Post 5036 and American
Legion Post 342. He loved going for the Saturday morning coffees.
David was also a member of the Bien Hoa Air Force Base Reunion group
and loved being able to attend those reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 50 years, a son Geoff (Nancy) Starr
of Cortland, IL, a daughter Cassie Graziano of Poplar Grove, IL, a
grandson Hunter of Cortland, IL and a granddaughter Mackenzie of
Cortland, IL.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his brother Charles and a son
in law Albert.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 16, 2021 from 4 to 8 pm and
funeral service will be at 10:30 am Friday, September 17, 2021 at Yurs Funeral
Home of St Charles at 405 East Main Street (corner of Rt 25 and Rt 64).
Until he became very ill David was an avid reader and sometimes would
read 4 to 5 books in a week and remember details of each one. He
loved to travel. He loved to work with his hands. He loved to fish and he loved to hunt.
