David Laverne Griffiths, 89, died peacefully in his sleep on September 6, 2023. David was a husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather.
David served his country between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was drafted into the army and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Tx. His wife, Lucy, was at his side and barking in his ear during the entire duty. He became a missile instructor for the Nike Aja and Nike Hercules, a nuclear war missile. After his tour of duty, he and lucy moved to warren, IL where he taught for 4 years and then moved to St. Charles, il where he taught middle school science 30 years before retiring.
He is survived by his devoted wife Lucy, his daughter Tanya (Scott), daughter-in-law Sue Griffiths, sisters; Yvonne and Roxine, brother Gary, 5 grandchildren; Grant Griffiths, Taylor Burnidge, Blake Griffiths, Raleigh Streets and Morgan Seaburn, 4 great grandchildren, Calvin, Rayah, Carmen and Tatum.
David was preceded in death by his parents Laverne and Mary Griffiths and his loving son, Todd Griffiths.
Visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday, September 16, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 6N491 Crane Rd. St. Charles, Illinois 60175, with mass following immediately after. Lunch will be provided at The Hawk Country Club located at 5N748 Burr Rd. St. Charles, IL 60175. In lieu of flowers, please donate in David’s name to St. Patrick Catholic School, 6n487 Crane Rd. St. Charles, Illinois, 60175.
