Debora R. Plantery, 63, of Geneva, Illinois, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born on August 3, 1962, in Gibson City, Illinois, Debora was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother (GG Bora), and friend whose warmth and compassion touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Plantery; her cherished children, Allie Plantery-Zurales (Mark) and Sam Plantery (Hailey); and her treasured grandchildren, Jack and Liam. She also leaves behind her beloved parents, Mary and Lee Cordes, who she cared for deeply throughout her life.
Debora, known to many as “Deb” or “Debbie,” celebrated her 30th year as a flight attendant this year, serving with Northwest, Delta, and Republic Airways. She also expressed her creativity as a stylist with Country Sampler magazine. But above all, she was most proud of being a devoted mother and grandmother.
A lifelong animal lover, Debbie adored her chocolate labs, Bailey, and more recently Gracie, who was a Christmas surprise in 2021 by her children. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures — watching her favorite soap operas like The Young and the Restless and General Hospital, spending time with family, and connecting with others. Known for her kind spirit and natural ability to make anyone feel at ease, Deb had a way of turning strangers into friends. She gave generously of herself, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Deb was actively involved in her church and participated in many community fundraisers and outreach programs.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles, IL, followed immediately by a funeral service at 4:00 p.m.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

"We just heard about Deb and are heartsick. She was such a lovely person and will be remembered with great fondness. One of the best memories of her will always be when Allie was in second grade and she came in dressed in her stewardess clothes and helped us with our trip to “Sweden”. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family as you struggle with the loss of such a beautiful soul."
