Debbie was 45 years old when she passed on August 27, 2020. She was an angel on earth who brought joy and light to all she met. She is survived by her four fantastic children (Ella, Owen, Aiden, and Liam).  Survived by her parents, Bill and Pat Bree who were guiding lights on how to live and how to love.  Survived by her brother and sister-in-law Doug and Alanna Bree, who were so dearly loved and gave such unlimited support.  Survived and utterly loved by her husband Joe.  Survived by hundreds if not thousands of children she devoted her life to as the Director of the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.  She was the voice for the voiceless and a guardian for the most vulnerable.  Visitation will be Tuesday September 1, 2020, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, from 4-8PM.  Services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at 10AM  at North Cemetery N 5th Ave (Rte 25) St. Charles. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friends of the Kane County Child Advocacy Center at

Meg Gorecki from St. Charles, IL

"My sincerest condolences to Deb's family and friends. Deb was one of the finest prosecutor's at the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Her commitment to justice for the victims of crime was steadfast and her ability to be a voice for children, under the most difficult of circumstances, was extraordinary. As the Director of the Child Advocacy Center, Deb was a consummate professional that was able to bring civility to an otherwise adversarial position. This is a tremendous loss for the community and the legal profession. She will be sincerely missed. You will all remain in my thoughts and prayers. MEG"

Patricia Piper Golden, Judge (Ret.) from Dundee, IL

"Ms. Bree, as she was called in the court rooms at the Kane County Judicial Center, always appeared on behalf of the People, prepared and respectful to all those involved in the cases she prosecuted. Along with her competence and conviction, she brought a genuine lovely smile. That smile lit up her face even more when she was not before the bench and speaking about her children. The children of Kane County benefitted by her advocacy. May her family be comforted by knowing how many families she helped."

Kathi LeComte from Batavia, IL

"Deb was a joy to work with. She always had a positive attitude and a smile on her face. The court reporters all loved her. She will live on in our memories."
