I met Den at a Halloween party. After our first date he said he was going to marry me. Well, he was right and we’ve been together for 56 years. We have two offspring with families of their own and two grandkids from each.
Den was a retired teacher/chess coach from Jefferson Jr. High where he taught for many years. All of the grandsons played chess also. He was a perfect tutor for our kids in math, science and social studies. Drawing, painting, woodworking and photography were hobbies of his, along with fishing.
Music was a big part of his life. He played first chair clarinet through high school. Later he taught himself Saxophone and guitar. Our kids played instruments and the two youngest grandkids too.
We went on many interesting/fun vacations. With chatty Tricia as his co-pilot, we covered many states/caves over the years. Later on we went on vacations with Paul/Olivia/Bryce/Chloe and a few by ourselves. Then we went on cruises with Tricia/John/Brenden/Justin to the Bahamas….twice.
I’d say Den had a full life and will be missed by his family and friends.

"It was my pleasure to have known Denny for over 20 years! Many a campfire we spent. Many good memories! My heart goes out to the family. What a tremendous loss 💕"

"I had the honor of teaching with Dennis at JJH. He, to this day, is one of the best science teachers I’ve ever known. Often old, and I mean old, students come back to visit or reach out. The positive things they remember about being in his class will never be forgotten."
