Dolores D. Wehling, 91, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Charles, Illinois on May 10, 2020 with her family by her side. She was affectionately known as “Tudi” to her friends and family. She was born on December 26, 1928 in Huntley, Illinois to Mildred (née Kasin) Richardson and Charles Richardson. She married Thomas G. Wehling, Sr. on November 24, 1951.
Dolores graduated from Elgin High School in Elgin, Illinois in 1946 and went on to attend college at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. After her marriage, she and Thomas settled in Aurora, Illinois where they raised their family. She was a devoted wife and mother who was involved in many church and civic organizations including those at St. Rita Church and Holy Angels Church in Aurora, Illinois and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elgin, Illinois where she grew up. She was a long-time member of the Aurora Women’s Club and the Arts Society of St. Charles for which she chaired a cookbook fundraising project titled Curtain Calls published in 1996. Dolores was an accomplished pianist who instilled a love of music in her children. She was also an avid Chicago sports fan and political news enthusiast.
Dolores is survived by her children Susan Rogaliner, Thomas Wehling, Jr., Jane Reuss, Gail Wehling, and Carol Wehling; her grandchildren Amy Rogaliner, Adam Wehling, Kevin (Mayella) Wehling, Anne Reuss, and Cameron Reuss; and her great granddaughter Jessa Wehling.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas G. Wehling, Sr., her parents, her sister Phyllis (née Richardson) O’Brien, and her brother Kenneth Richardson.
Dolores, who was quietly devoted to her faith, will be forever remembered for her kindness, her loving and caring heart, her wisdom and her bright sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A memorial mass will be officiated by Reverend Chris Kuhn, Pastor, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 400 Fulton Street, Elgin, Illinois 60120.
