"I am sorry for the loss of your sister, mother, grandmother, friend. I am the daughter of Kyle Hanson, son of Elaine Hanson. I recall visiting Gerald & Donna at their farmhouse in the early-mid 1980's. It was Halloween and us kids were dressed up ready to show our outfits and, of course, receive candy. We sisters, Jamie,Heidi & myself were dressed as the Ingals girls from Little House on the Prairie. My younger brother Ike was dressed as a clown with a pillow stuffed in his suit to give him a "belly". After walking from the truck to the house this belly began to drop. Lower & lower. The sight of him walking with such a large, now swaying abdomen, was so hilarious it had everyone, including Donna & Gerald rolling and even crying with laughter! They were down to earth, salt of the earth, caring people and Donna will be missed. She will no doubt be smiling when we see her again!God Bless you all"

"I have been best friend's with Donna's son Dorn for 44 years. When I first met Donna and Gerry they both accepted me so totally and completely that I felt like I was part of the family. Since moving away I did not get to see them much but each time I did it felt exactly the same way.You hear the phrase "good people" fairly often but I have never met two people that exemplified that saying more than Donna and Gerry. Everyone who had contact with them is better for it and the world will miss them because we need a lot more like them. All my love and condolences to their families."

Laura Kenyon Graver from Sugar Grove, IL

"Molly and Dorn ~ My deepest sympathies for the loss of your incredibly special mom. It's difficult to truly describe her gentle, caring and graceful soul. Never once did she miss an opportunity to send flowers or a thoughtful card to my parents for every occasion, both happy and sad. Donna always shared a little of herself, sending along encouraging words that truly made a difference. I have sweet memories of your mom, standing at the open back door of your house at the farm, welcoming our family in for dinner. No one wore an apron better than Donna, and she (and your dad) were always such gracious hosts (even tolerating my obsession with the metronome on the piano in the front room). It gives me some peace and certainly makes me smile to know that now, the foursome of Donna, Gerry, Judy and Bob, whose friendship lasted nearly 70 years, is together again. I hope you find some peace through your memories, and I send all my best to you and yours. ~Laura"
