Donna Marie (Mielke) Blomquist, 69, died peacefully surrounded by her family at home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer, on August 23, 2018.  Donna was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on September 17, 1948 to her proud parents, Paul and Dolores Mielke.

Donna is survived by Craig, her loving husband of 42 years, son Jonathan (Janet), daughter Ingrid (Chris) Burrichter, her mother Dolores (Pisoni) Mielke, grandchildren Greta and Levi Burrichter, her sister Pamela (Mike) Steinke, nieces and nephews, and four step-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her father Paul Mielke.

Donna graduated from Geneva Community High School in 1966, and Southern Illinois University in 1970 with a degree in Accounting.  She was employed as a staff accountant at a large public accounting firm in Chicago; Business Manager and Finance Director for the American Medical Student Association and Foundation in Schaumburg, IL., and Chantilly, VA; and as a law firm administrator in Chicago.  She served as President of the Board of Directors, and as Treasurer of Community Contacts, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Association For Individual Development.  Donna retired as Director of Church Operations at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles in 2015.

Donna was a devoted wife and mother, and actively supported her children’s activities through St. Charles schools, scouting, sports, musical ensembles, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  She was an avid and prolific knitter for Bethlehem’s Prayer Shawl ministry.  Most recently, she enjoyed doting on her young grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main St., St. Charles 60174.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1145 N. 5th Avenue, St. Charles, IL 60174. "Ingrid and Jon, I was so saddened to hear of your mother's passing. She was a wonderful friend, dedicated mother and always had a smile if I ever needed her assistance in the years I had the privilege to teach you. You were so lucky to be able to call her "Mom." She was a great lady and loved by so many. Know that she and you are in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Love you always...God bless 🙏. Kathy McGee"

Sandy Goldberg Granroth from HIGHLAND PARK, IL

"Donna was my best friend and roommate at SIU 1966 -1970. We sure did have fun. Life gets in the way and we only got together once after that. Just now I decided to search for her on Facebook, only to find that she passed away a week ago. Mrs. Mielke and Pam I remember you fondly and the many times I came home with Donna and was welcomed into your home. May Donna's life and love always make your hearts smile."
