Doris M. (DeSpain) Nedrow

Doris M. Nedrow, 92, of Wenham, Massachusetts, and previously Aurora, Illinois, beloved wife of Larry J. Nedrow, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, September 21st, 2021 at Kaplan Hospice House. She was born on February 25th, 1929, in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of William DeSpain and Gertrude Short.

Doris is survived by two children, daughter Jodi (Brad) Nedrow-Counihan of Wenham, Massachusetts, son George (Sue) Patkus of St. Charles, Illinois, and two stepchildren, Jack (Barb) Nedrow, and Jill Nedrow; nine grandchildren, Ryan, Maxwell (Katy) and Riley Counihan, Karin (Scott) Callanan, Stacy Patkus Spurr, Scott Patkus, Sam Nedrow, Jeffrey Esposito and Melissa Mosher; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Benjamin, Zachary, Danny and Max; and several nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Margaret and Mary, and brother William.

Doris was a beloved wife to her soulmate, Larry, of 38 years. Doris and Larry were avid travelers, visiting countries all over the world with close friends, sharing wonderful adventures and endless laughs. They especially loved spending winters in Maui, Hawaii during their years in retirement. Doris was a vibrant personality known for dancing on tables at special occasions. Her energy lit up a room and made everyone smile.

To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Doris was known as Nana. Nana will forever be remembered for her nurturing soul and giving heart. Nana was the matriarch of her family and did so with dignity and class. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly and took a great deal of pride in their life stages and accomplishments. Her legacy will be carried on through them.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. John Neumann Church 2900 East Main Street St. Charles. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery Geneva Twp.
