Eddie M. Bergh [90], passed away on January 14, 2018 at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL. He was born on January 9, 1928 to To Salvation Army Officers Eddie and Vera Bergh

Eddie was a WWII Veteran serving in the Navy. He worked for Continental Can, Chicago, IL and retired after 30 + years.

Mr. Wonderful (as he was fondly called) married Delores (Lyon) May 17, 1952. They were happily married for 65 years.

Eddie was very proud of his children Bruce (Beth Ann), Steve (Beth) & Sandy, eight Grandchildren and eleven Great Grandchildren.

As quoted by a dear close friend: “In all those years I never heard or saw him do an unkind thing about, or to anyone Any comment he made was “Oh, what a shame”. He did not drink, smoke, but his greatest ability was not to get dirty. He always looked like he just got out of the shower. He built a whole house in pure white shirt and pants, which we teased him about as the house went up. He made us look messy. . He could fix just about any home, car, lawn problem, with his wife telling him exactly how, he kept smiling. Every woman wanted a “Mr. Handyman”, I know my husband envied his talent at fixing, as Bud was great at dialing help. I smile every time I go into the lumber department at Builders Square, as I remember Eddie looking like he just won a million on lotto, Delores and Eddie had fun to the smell of fresh lumber. They would just giggle and pick up pieces of wood Yes, they are “soul mates” made for each other. Eddie Bergh is and was a great man, who will remain alive and living in our hearts forever.”

A funeral service will be held at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174

1:00 pm- 3:00 pm Visitation – 3:00 pm Memorial Service

Condolences

Steve Bergh from Chugiak, AK

"I took this picture Dad when we were at the kitchen table on one of my trips in to be with Bruce in his last days. We all missed him dearly and still do. Mom is with you now and I am glad she is not suffering any more. She missed you so much. We talked everyday Dad and I miss that. Don adopted Sandy and I so were not orphans. Man I miss you so much Dad. I got an add from ancestry this Memorial Day. I found your ship log on the LCI orders to travel Saipan to Perle Harbor Jan 1946. 5 years after Pee Harbor was bombed. You were 17 years old. You were a hero then and always have been for me. Give a good word to the Lord about Marshel as I do not want Don to experience what you did with Bruce. See you soon Dad as we will cast our crown before Jesus feet together. Miss you and love you. Steve"
