Obituaries

Eleanor A. Peterson, 90, of St. Charles, died peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023, surrounded by loving family at Bickford Senior Living in St. Charles.

Ellie has been a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles. She was also a member of Wasco Ladies Aid and various other small groups. She attended the University of Illinois and graduated from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. Before retirement she taught kindergarten at Wasco School for many years and later at Ferson Creek School. After retirement from teaching, she worked for several years part time at Grimms Hallmark Store in St. Charles.

Ellie had many wide and varied interests and took pleasure in each day. She always had a welcoming smile for all no matter who it was. She enjoyed her flower gardening , swimming, hiking, stitching and reading. Travelling, was a favorite pastime. She loved her life as a farmer’s wife, even with growing up in Elmhurst, Illinois. She always said she took to farm life as a duck took to water. Her warm and generous nature will be missed more than words can say. But her overwhelming priority was her unfailing love for her family, and we were all blessed to have her example throughout our lives.

She is survived by her four children,  Kathy (Rob) Peterson of St. Charles, David (Suzan) Peterson of Shabbona, Illinois., Steven Peterson of Elroy, Wisconsin. and  Bill Peterson of  Geneva.  Four grandchildren, Mark (Jen) Peterson, John (Heidi) Peterson, Julie (D.J.) Sanders, and Pete (Sarah) Peterson, as well as eleven great-grandchildren.

Ellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete Peterson in 1987 and her brother Robert Frase

Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday April 27, 2023, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church 1145 North Fifth Ave, St. Charles. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Garfield Cemetery St. Charles.  Donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
