Shortly after they moved to Downers Grove. When the girls were old enough she pursued her Masters in Library Science from Rosary College and was a media director for the Lisle school district. John Sprovieri from GENEVA, IL

"I had the great privilege of knowing Ella Mae through Kane County Audubon. She was an absolutely delightful person. Every time I spoke with her, I thought, "I should be so lucky to be like that at her age." Always a smile or a laugh. She would call me every now and then, just to talk about birds. We will miss her."

Gwen Zeitrr from St Charles , IL

"Ella Mae was always delightful. I loved hearing of her birding adventures and never could believe her age. She was our OWLS luncheon planner and always so enjoyable to be with on those occasions. She will be so missed."

Susan Wagoner from Aurora, IL

"I will miss Ella Mae's good humor. Although I birded with her occasionally with the Kane County Audubon group, I will miss her most at our little group's monthly dinners where her good humor was enjoyed by all. She was fun, and she was one of a kind. May you rest in peace, Ella Mae."

Paul Mayer from Elburn, IL

"We were so sorry to hear about Ella Mae’s passing. The news generated so many wonderful memories. Ella Mae was one of Kane County Audubon’s “special” members. When KCA started its “Beyond Our Borders” trips to birding hotspots all across the country, Ella Mae was almost always there with her sense of joy, positive outlooks, and wonderful sense of humor. She never lost her spirit of adventure and served as a “model senior birder”. More than once did I hear someone say “Boy, I hope I can do what she does when I reach her age”. She now rests in the arms of God and will be missed."
