It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernest Peterson, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this world on Saturday, August 10th at the age of 84. Surrounded by his loving family, Ernie departed peacefully, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion.
Born on September 21, 1939 in Ottawa, Illinois. Ernie grew up with a strong sense of family and community. He married Judy, his lifelong partner, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and cherished memories, raising five children who would go on to bring them immense pride and happiness.
Ernie was a man of deep integrity and boundless love. He was a devoted father, always putting his family first and providing unwavering support and guidance. His children remember him as a gentle and wise man, always ready with a kind word or a listening ear. He instilled in them the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience, which continue to shape their lives.
As a grandfather and great-grandfather, Ernie was a source of endless joy and inspiration. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he delighted in every moment spent with them. Whether telling stories from his youth, offering advice, or simply sharing a laugh, Ernie created a bond with each member of his family.
Ernie volunteered multiple years of his life to the St. Charles Fire Department along with a career in the beer industry, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends. He was known for his strong work ethic, his honesty, and his ability to bring people together.
In his later years, Ernie found joy in Florida fishing, golf cart rides, and time with family and friends where he continued to live life to the fullest. His joy for life, even in his final days, was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Ernie leaves behind a family that will forever cherish his memory: his loving children, Scott Peterson (Coreen), Bryan Peterson, Christine McFarlane (Mike), Stephanie Deutsch (Joe) & Stacey Carlson (Josh); his grandchildren, Dane, Meghann, Marc, Michel Jr., Jacob, Jordyn, Tyler, Colton, Trevor, Taylor, Hayley, Harley, Ronny, Troyer, & Luke; his 11 great-grandchildren. Along with his brother in-law Danny Dimmick (Lesley) & sister in-law Donna Watts. He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Eltrevoog and his wife Judy Peterson.
A private celebration of Ernie’s life will be held, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable man he was.
