Ernest Flores age 84 of St. Charles, passed way February 7, 2019 at Delnor Hospital. He was born September 3, 1934 to Epigmenio and Amelia Flores in E Paso, Texas.
He is survived by his wife Amada Flores, four children; Ruth, Mike, John (Moni), Elizabeth, ten grandchildren; Jason “Houston”, Rebecca, Rachel, Stephanie, Jessica (James), Kyle, Olivia, Justin, Eric, TJ, three great-grandchildren; Gustav “Tavi”, Clementine, Logan.
He was preceded in death by his father Epigmenio, mother Amelia, brother Eddie, sisters; Elva, and Mary.
He worked for 25 years at GTE Automatic Electric, 10 years Gillette, and 7 years at Osco.
He served in the Army for 2 years during peace time. During that time he was overseas in France and Germany and loved their beer.
He was a quiet man, a dedicated father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and, great-grandfather. He loved the babies and had to smell their feet.
He lived in Texas till he was 10 years old when his family moved to Chicago. He would talk about his love of going down Maxwell Street and eating the Best Hot Dogs in the country!
He hated the cold winters in Chicago, so at 62 he retired with our mother to Arizona where he stated a new love of hiking and riding his bike for 10-15 miles up and down the mountains. They lived there for 10 years. As he got older and his health started to decline they moved to Kentucky to be closer to family for 2 years. Then back to Naperville, Illinois. There they found a new life with new friends at Carillon Club Retirement Community for 9 years. Those years the family was able to get together for all the holiday and gatherings, where our dad enjoyed the feast and family!
He’s at rest now enjoying and Italian beef with his family and friends!
Visitation will be 2-6:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, Illinois 60174. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 6:00 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St Charles, Illinois 60174. Burial will be private.
