Francis (Frank) Harold Blackmore, age 85, passed into Eternal Life at GreenFields of Geneva on Thursday, December 24th, after a short battle with metastasized melanoma cancer.  He was a long-time resident of Blue Island, IL, South Holland, IL, Schererville, IN, and Sun City Center, FL.

Born October 4, 1935, in Blue Island, IL to Harold and Sophie (nee Groszewicz) Blackmore.  Married to Judith Yormark, aka “Red” on November 12, 1960, after meeting at People’s Gas Company in Chicago.

Frank was a graduate of DePaul University in Chicago, and later earned his MBA from the University of Chicago while working at People’s Gas Company in Chicago.  An early pioneer in the computer age, he retired at the top of his profession as the Vice President of People’s Gas Company at the age of sixty one to enjoy his family and traveling.

It has been said, “The happiest are the givers, not the takers.” Frank was a giver, and a cheerful giver at that.  He always looked at life with a “glass half full” attitude.  Everything he did was for the benefit of his family – giving his grandkids their first Disney experience, giving his family a place to fish, swim, golf, and relax at his cottage in Fish Lake, Indiana, taking the grandkids to ball games, Broadway shows, and Chicago adventures.  Whenever going out to eat, Frank would always pick up the tab. His greatest gift was taking care of his wife for the last 5 years of her life as she suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease.  Frank’s generosity was unmatched, and his love for his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids was unending. His strong faith in God gave him the strength and humility that he radiated.

Frank was an avid golfer, bowler, and fisherman – earning two hole-in-ones in golf, and three 300 games in bowling, all done in his sixties after he retired.  Whatever he did, he did it masterfully.  He was a finance wizard, a masterful woodworker, builder, mechanic, and he could fix just about anything.

Frank was preceded in death by his loving spouse of 58 years, Judith (nee Yormark) Blackmore.  He is survived by his 5 children, Karyn (Eric) Witt of Chesterton, IN; Sandra (Kevin) True of St. Charles, IL; David Blackmore of St. Charles, IL; Brian (Lisa) Blackmore of Geneva, IL; and Scott (Dawn) Blackmore of Lockport, IL, along with 12 grandchildren – Dr. Keith (Lauren) True,  Dr. Kelsey True (Dr. Chris Robinson), Kyle True, Maxwell Witt, Mason Witt, Lindsay Blackmore, Adam Blackmore, Sophie Blackmore, Nathan Blackmore, Henry Blackmore, Zac Blackmore, and Avery Blackmore.  He was Grandpa Great to Harrison and Sally True a brother of Genevieve Kremer and brother in law to Terry and Donna Yormark.

Besides his loving wife, Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Sophie Blackmore, his in-laws, David and Eleanor Yormark, brother-in-law Thomas Kremer, sister-in-law Bonnie Perkovich, brother-in-law Ivan Perkovich, and his great granddaughter, Charlotte Ada True.

Services will be on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, and will include a private visitation at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, IL, followed by a 10:30 am public funeral mass at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, IL, 60175.  Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Frank’s name at www.alz.org in hopes of finding a cure for ALZ, the disease that took his beloved wife.
