Fredrick “Fred” Robinson of St. Charles, IL died unexpectedly on November 5, 2018 at the age of 72. Fred has joined his beloved wife, Kathleen, in Heaven and they are together once again. Fred was the son of the late J.L. & Helen Robinson. He grew up in Barre Mills, WI along with his brothers Patrick Robinson and the late Philip Robinson.
It was on the family farm where Fred developed an early love of farming and a knack for driving just about anything. During high school, he joined The Future Farmer’s of America in St. Charles where he would meet the love of his life, Kathleen. Together they raised their four children, Lorraine, Mardell, Dale and Robert, remaining in St. Charles where farming was the bedrock of their family life.
Fred was a respected resident of Kane County community, well known for his dependability and incredible work ethic. Throughout his life he was active in 4-H, the St. Charles chapter of Future Farmers of America, and The Knights of Columbus. He retired from the Kane County Highway Department after 37 years of service.
In addition to his agricultural and civic pursuits, the first weekend of the month Fred was a steadfast presence at the Kane County Flea Market, which his mother started 1967. With the same devotion he gave to farming, Fred poured his heart and soul into growing that family business for nearly five decades.
Of all the things Fred planted and grew throughout his beautiful life, his nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were his most precious blossoms. A quiet hero to most, Fred’s smiles and laughter were abundantly given when in the company of Jonathan (28), Courtney (26), Danielle (12), Samantha (11), Madison (10), Alexa (9), Chloe (8) Shelby (5), Wesley (3), Charlotte (3), Zoey (1) and Lincoln (3mos). He was a dedicated Grandpa who spent time daily calling his grandchildren to see how they were doing, always offering a lap for them to sit in, a shoulder to cry on or a hug to remind them how much he loved them.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Fred is survived by his sisters-in-law Patsy and his daughter-in-law Annie.
Anyone who met Frederick Robinson knew that he was always willing to support and help anyone who was in need. To honor his generosity, his kindness and his strong sense of civic duty, his family respectfully requests donations to any of these three organizations in lieu of flowers:
- American Cancer Society, Illinois Chapter
- American Diabetes Association, Illinois Chapter
- Special Olympics, Region C (Kane County)
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 9th from 3pm to 8 pm at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles. Funeral Service is Saturday, Nov. 10th at 10:30am at St. Patrick’s Mission Church, also in St. Charles.
