George A. Tattersfield Sr., age 79, of St. Charles passed away August 13, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born to Arthur and Gertrude Tattersfield in Philadelphia, PA.

He attended Germantown Academy and Trinity College, then worked for 50 (!) years as a salesperson and executive in the floor covering business.  He married D. Gail Williams in 1962; he considered it the best decision he ever made, and he was right.  Their marriage was a work of art.  He was a genius in the kitchen.  He was endlessly curious, a lifelong learner, a giver of sage advice, a mentor, a good listener.  He loved dogs, and in his retirement trained his pal Dickens to be a therapy dog.  Together they made weekly rounds of schools, retirement homes, and medical facilities.  In 2003, he and Gail joined the Unitarian Universalist Church in Geneva, a community he loved. We will miss his energy, his big, crooked smile and his great, big laugh.  He was a piece of work.

He is survived by his loving wife Gail, daughter Susan (Vincent) Fiorucci, sons, George A. (Marjorie) Tattersfield Jr., Geoffrey (Leah Ewing) Tattersfield, four grandchildren, Joseph Fiorucci, Benjamin Tattersfield, Claire Tattersfield, Margaret Tattersfield, beloved sister Patricia (James) Poitras, three nieces, numerous cousins, and his dog Dickens.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Memorial Visitation will be 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at The Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, 102 S. 2nd Street, Geneva, IL 60134. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 12:00 P.M.

Cyndee Yonkus from St. Charles, IL

"I am so sorry to hear the world lost a great person but heaven gained another angel. I met George & Tatters at the dog park many years ago. He always talked fondly about dogs and his family. I will miss seeing him walking with his hands clasped behind his back while contemplating life. He truly was one of the good ones. Thoughts & prayers to his family. He’s running with the big dogs in heaven! Take care."
