Gerald R. “Chat” Schroeder, 85, of St. Charles, died February 17, 2025, at Delnor Community Hospital, Geneva.
He was born on October 8, 1939, in Wausau, Wisconsin. The son of the late Arthur F. and Mabel A. Schroeder.
After high school he joined the Air Branch of the Navy. He was assigned to Patrol Squadron VP-26 in Brunswick Main. He was a crew member on a P2-V Neptune Plane. After discharge he received his pilots license which he started in the Navy.
He is survived by his son, Michael Anson Schroeder of Chicago, Il. His daughter, H. Meehan Murphy of Fayetteville, GA and grandsons Sean and Ryan Murphy as well as nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by is spouse Prue Donoghue Schroeder, his brother, Donald A. Schroeder of Madison, WI,
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. The burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery Geneva.
