Gladys Mae Overstreet went home to be with her Savior on Wednesday October 19, 2022 at the young
age of 84. Gladys was born to Roy E Aug and Violet E Aug in Wasco, IL on Thursday May 5 th 1938. Gladys
was brought home to her older loving Sister Georgia Lee Aug and was later joined by her younger Sister
Sadie Marie Aug.
Gladys was set up on a blind date through some Church going friends where she met John Ray
Overstreet. They dated and eventually got married on May 23 rd 1964. Once married they were an
instant Family with Judy Ann who was born previously on May 6 th , 1959 from Gladys’s previous
marriage where her Husband previously was killed in an accident. On July 29 th , 1968 the Family of three
where joined by Amy Sue Overstreet aka “Dumpling”
Gladys had the honor of being able to be a stay-at-home Wife to be with the girls before and after
School. She was able to be PTA room Mother and crossing guard for several years during the girls
elementary days. John always kidded that she was on the longest maternity leave he had ever heard of.
Gladys was married to the love of her life for 41 years when John passed away on December 16 th , 2005.
Gladys enjoyed several years of bowling on a ladies league one day a week for several years. She later
blamed all that bowling on her arthritis in her shoulders. She spent several years being a Red Hat
Member. Doing things such as eating, crafting, going to shows and small day trips. If she was not with
her Red Hat Ladies she was on the stool in front of the Penny slots machines. She took several day trips
to various river boats. She didn’t care if she won or lost – she just had fun doing it
In April of 2019, Gladys moved to her new home at Silverado Memory Care in St Charles where she
spent her final days until she passed away. Gladys was known of the facility Queen. She never met a
Resident, Worker or even a Family Member of a Resident that didn’t take a right of way liking to her.
She spent her days painting, singing, player name that tune, bingo, Uno (HER FAVORITE) shotting nerf
guns, bowling and baking. She enjoyed music performed at Silverado and many outside visitor that
were brought in. On Friday afternoons you could find her in the activity room eating popcorn and
drinking a drink (non-alcohol…of course) and watching the weekly movie. She made several several
good friends and had a new “Silverado Family” Judy and Amy were also involved in many Silverado
activities because the Queen couldn’t miss out on the action! Gladys loved her outings such as Dr appts
where she could ride in the Big Blue Bus!
In December of 2021, Gladys was diagnosed with Cancer and went through several rounds of Chemo
where she fought it like a champ. Unfortunately, in May of 2022 Gladys had pneumonia and once that
set in she just was never strong enough to fully bounce back. She started to have some memory issues
and her health began to really fail around the end of August. She was always loved and cared for by ALL
Silverado employees up to her last breath.
A celebration of Gladys’s life will be Sunday, October 23 rd from 3-8 at Yurs Funeral Home in St Charles
with her funeral on Monday, October 24 th at 10:00AM.
Any donations that the Family receives will be used at a later time for a memorial made if memory of
Gladys at Silverado Memory Care (bench, tree etc)
