"Butch and I were fraternity brothers at Carthage College, Beta Phi Epsilon. I haven’t seen him in a number of years but reading about the man, good friend and dad he became is no surprise to me. He was always a good guy and humble in spite of his athletic prowess. In college he was known for giving his friends a “lung chop”. He’d sneak up and hit you in the chest and back simultaneously with the inside soft part of his clenched fists. It would kind of knock the wind out of you and he’d just stand there with that big smile and raised eyebrows like “yeah so”…?! LOL"
