Harriet Janis, 77, died Tuesday, February 16, surrounded by her loving family. She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren and their families.
The daughter of Josef and Stella Pawlicka, Harriet was born on May 2, 1943 just outside of Warsaw, Poland. On February 27, 1971, she married Leon Janis in Phoenix, Arizona.
Harriet was a very talented seamstress and she was well known in the community for her work. She loved to garden and cook but she most loved spending time with her family, friends and customers. She was recognized for her kindness, generosity and care for others.
She is survived by daughter Pamela (Dale) Detweiler, sons Steve (Christine), Ed (Amy) and Denis (Cassie). Harriet will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Hayley, Megan, Rachel, Alex, Steven, Caleb and Zoey.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leon.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 9-11:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 24th at Yurs Funeral Home of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street (Corner of Rt. 64 and Rt. 25).
Donations in Harriet’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association online or by mail in form.
