She was born February 8, 1939 in Elgin, Illinois.
Hildy was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Elgin, IL. She grew up and raised her boys in Elgin’s North End. Hildy graduated from Elgin High School in 1957 and attended Lake Forest College. She met future husband Arnie when they both worked at Sears in Downtown Elgin. Hildy was also actively raising her sons Tom and Jim, and she served many roles in their activities, including Den Mother, Room Mother, McKinley School PTA and lifelong supporter of her children. Hildy was an avid sports fan and a die-hard White Sox fan, a trait which she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a constant presence at youth football, basketball and baseball games as the proud mother and grandmother of the players. In their retirement, she and Arnie split their time between Illinois and Brooksville, FL Hildy was a quilter, and left behind her beautiful quilts for her family to remember her by.
She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Arnold, her son Thomas (Susan), son James (Heidi), grandchildren Andrew, David, Michael and Joshua Lauber, and Chelsea and Michael Niles. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Fiedler and Anna (Rippberger) Fiedler.

Reverend David Ritt and Carol Ritt from Aurora Illinois, IL
"We send our sincere sympathy to you, Arnie, and your children and grandchildren. Hildy became a dear wife , mother, grandmother, and honorary classmate of the Dundee class of "57 upon marrying you. We so enjoyed our bi-monthly gatherings at the Squire and summer luncheons once a year in Geneva when the Kennekes from Oregon, the Starks from Dundee, and we from Aurora would celebrate friendship. We remember Hildy as a kind, gracious, sincere, and supportive woman. May our Lord grant you peace and many joyful memories of your earthly years together."
Gayle Nelson from Sparta, TN

"Dear Arnie, Tom, Jim and family, I am so so sad to hear about the loss of sweet Hildy! The last time I saw you all was at my dad's funeral and I have to say that Arnie , you were the only person that actually made me smile that day. I'm so so sorry I didn't get those photos to you sooner. I can't believe they arrived on the morning after she died. I think that will be one of my biggest regrets for the rest of my life. She will definitely be missed. She was the sweetest, funniest and kindest woman I knew , I love you all and I'm praying for you and if there's anything you need, I hope you will reach out to me! All my love, Leslie"
