Irene (Dieter) Pesek, 90, passed peacefully on Friday, May 8th. Born on April 1, 1930, to Frank and Lena (Fortman) Dieter, she was the seventh of eight children. She spent her childhood in Wheaton, Illinois, married Joseph Pesek on November 29th, 1952, and went on to have six children of her own.

A devoted Catholic, wife, and mother, Irene cared for many during her 45 years as a nurse. Her legacy is one of concern for others–she recognized those that were lonely, talked to the stranger, and reached out to those that were going through hard times.  She loved being out in nature–especially bird watching–and she and her husband took their children on many camping trips across the country. Her vast collection of games, puzzles, and books was evidence of the activities she enjoyed sharing with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph, and their children (Diane Streamer, John Pesek, Patricia Behnke, Darlene Barrowclift, Jenny Risberg, and Jim Pesek), as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their families.
