Jacqueline P. Nootens, 81, passed away peacefully on October 7, surrounded by her devoted family. She was deeply cherished by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and extended family.

Born to Grace and Pete Riccelli on September 4, 1943, in Chicago, Jackie was raised in Bridgeport, where she formed lifelong friendships that remained close until her final days. On March 25, 1977, she married Charles Nootens, with whom she shared a beautiful life. They joyfully renewed their wedding vows on May 13, 2023, marking nearly 50 years of love and commitment.

In 1981, Jackie moved to Oak Park, where she became actively involved in the St. Charles Choral Group, even traveling to China for a special choral concert. In 1997, she and Charles relocated to St. Charles to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Jackie cherished the weekly Tuesday sleepovers with her grandchildren, affectionately known as “Rara,” creating memories that would last a lifetime. Her home was the center of joyful gatherings, where pool parties and luncheons with family and friends filled her days with laughter and love.

Jackie’s love for community extended beyond her family. She found great joy in her Delnor swim group, which soon became her social circle. Together, they shared many happy times with theater outings, trips, and dinners. Even as she embraced new beginnings, Jackie thrived. During one of her group activities, she also discovered wreath making, a hobby that allowed her to display her artistic side and touch us all with beautiful wreaths at every holiday. After moving to Edgewater Del Webb in 2023, she quickly became an active participant in various activities and discovered a new passion for Bocce Ball. Known for her vibrant spirit and deep love for her friends and family, Jackie was always planning gatherings, ensuring everyone around her stayed connected and engaged.

Jackie is survived by her beloved husband, Charles Nootens, her daughter, Lisa Schutz, and her adored grandchildren, Nicholas (Brooke), Kathleen, and Madeline. She is also survived by her brothers, Peter and Joseph (Michelle), along with many loving nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her former husband, John Sheehan, her sister, Jeannine (James) Marzano, and her sister-in-law, MaryAnn Riccelli.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, October 16, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Rd, St. Charles, with Monsignor Deutsch officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 15, at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie’s memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
