James Calvin Krick Jr., Jim, age 105, passed away peacefully, Monday, January 29, 2024, at home with his daughter, Joye and son-in-law Dennis Mahoney in Saint Charles, IL. We would like to thank all the fantastic, thoughtful doctors, nurses and aides with the Traditions Health Hospice Care Facility for their special care and compassion to make Jim comfortable in his final days before returning to the Lord.

Jim was born in Oblong, IL on December 30, 1918, the son of James and Ethel (Moomau) Krick. He graduated from High School in 1936 and entered the Civilian Conservation Corps in Wisconsin. After returning home Jim was drafted and served in the U.S. Army (1941-1945) during WWII. He fought proudly for our country in Normandy, Northern France, Germany and Battle of the Bulge earning a Bronze Star. Jim traveled to Oklahoma after WWII and worked for the Standard Oil Company. At that time, he met the love of his life, Joyce Stephens in Shawnee, OK and were married (1947) and shared life for 75 years, which is a feat few can boast!! Their love and commitment to each other was an inspiration to all.

Jim worked for the Standard Oil Co., Amoco and BP. He was transferred (1961) to Joliet, IL where he finished out his career at the age of 57 (1976). He and Joyce returned to OK and enjoyed their retirement life together. Jim’s hobby was making, restoring and collecting clocks from Grandfather to pocket watches, owning a huge collection. Jim was an accomplished woodworker, making wonderful gifts for the entire family. Gardening, trips in their motor home, camping, fishing and doting on their one grandchild, Kindel, and eventually their 3 great grandsons filled their lives.

Survivors include his daughter Joye (Dennis) Mahoney, granddaughter Kindel Rogers, and 3 great grandsons, Brantley, Trenton, and Greyson Rogers all of Saint Charles, IL plus many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Krick, daughter Johnnie Carolyn, parents Ethel and James Krick and 3 brothers, Denzil (Coleen), Murl (Eslie) and Paul (Olive) Krick.

Jim will be remembered as a committed family man willingly putting his own needs second to those of his family and close friends. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee and a man of faith, believing “I am God’s child and I will share His treasures, for everything God gives to Christ, is mine too.” Romans 8:17

Private funeral services will be in Shawnee, OK at a later date.
