James Earl Webb, Sr., 80, Died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Born June 3, 1942, in Forrest City, AR to Willie Jr. and Birdie (Nichols) Webb

Jim attended St. Charles High School and graduated with the Class of 1960.

Jim was a life-long well-respected carpenter who loved his job. He was a proud owner of Royal Builders of Illinois which he started in 1988. While President of Royal Builders he developed Royal St. James subdivision and Oak Crest Townhome Community. He has left his fingerprints and hammer marks on many buildings in St. Charles and Geneva. During his career in the construction industry, he formed many lasting friendships.

Jim’s favorite place to spend time was on his farm.  Every Saturday was a project day which included recruiting his grandchildren to help him.  His biggest fear was a “rain” day. His hobbies included, gardening, working in his workshop and prepping for the next BIG party. Although Jim was a man of few words, his parties were legendary. He enjoyed hosting the annual Halloween parties, family picnics and many great milestone birthday celebrations.

His biggest smiles were seen while spending time with his family. He was known for his unconditional love, generosity, honesty, kindness, and a sprinkle of stubbornness. He had such a quick wit. The family thinks he was born with an extra funny bone. All the stories of his pranks and jokes he pulled off with his mischievous grin will help the family through this difficult time and keep him in our hearts.

Survived by wife, Sandee Hartle-Webb; children, Jim Jr. (Sue) Webb of St. Charles, Lance (Karen) Webb of Sycamore, and Christina Webb of Sycamore; grandchildren, Scotty Miller, Amy (Ryan) Marek, Eric Miller, Nick (Courtney) Webb, Marisa Zehender, and Kayla (Chaise) Harvey; great grandchildren, Claudie-Marie and Spike Miller, Harper Marek, Myles and Brooks Webb, and Fox Zehender. Jim is survived by his sisters, Imogene Altman and Marie Hula; sister-in-Law, Maxine Webb; mother-in-law, Fay Hartle; sister-in-law, Shirley Oakes; brother-in-law, Vernon (Janet) Hartle; and brother-in-law, Mike (Gayla) Hartle. He had numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death are his parents, Willie Jr. and Birdie Webb; wife, Debra (Potter) Webb; daughter, Elyece Webb; grandson, Jake Webb; brothers, Donald, Willie, John (Pete) Webb; sister, Sue Mullen; father-in-law, Delmar Hartle; sister-in-law, Sonja (Hartle) Poppen and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital for the care they gave Jim. We appreciate Gentiva Hospice for their support, knowledge, and compassion.

Family request in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Stroke Association PO Box 840692 Dallas, Texas 75284 or to Fight Colorectal Cancer 134 Park Central Square # 210 Springfield, Missouri 65806
