Jim Vojahosky, 90, of Saint Charles, IL, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, step-great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Jim is survived by his children, Karen (Jon Carlson), James J. Vojahosky (Donna), his cherished grandchildren, Lauren Dutkiewicz, Carly (Matt Paluszek), James P. Vojahosky (Danielle), and Katelyn Vojahosky, step-grandchildren Daniel Carlson (Kristen) and Jeremiah Wild (Lydia), and step-great-grandchildren Lua Kai, Jasper, Amadou, and Otto. Jim was preceded in death by Joanne, his devoted wife of 68 years, as well as sister Marie (Edward Mayer) and sister Betty (Richard Hayes).
Jim was born on October 8, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to the late Joseph and Helen Vojahosky. He attended Pasteur Primary School and St. Rita and Lindblom High Schools. After proudly serving with the 9th Infantry Division in Fort Carson, Colorado, Jim returned to Chicago with Joanne to begin raising their family. Jim spent his career with People’s Energy Company. Being the hard worker that he was, Jim also found time to start his own business which was aptly named, Jim’s Heating. Jim had a true passion for sports, whether it was playing with his buddies as part of the Panther’s Athletic Club or cheering on his favorite teams, like the Chicago Blackhawks. Jim’s greatest love was his family and he dedicated his life to ensuring the happiness of each and every one of them, whether it was taking road trips, attending virtually all of his grandchildren’s events, or simply enjoying quality time together.
Jim will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His big smile, kind heart, and the many stories that he loved to tell will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11th from 4:00-8:00 PM. Visitation will continue from 10:00-11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12th, followed by a memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life at 11:00. All visitation and the memorial service will take place at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E Main St, St. Charles, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jim’s memory to Illinois AMVETS.
