James “Jim” David Patinka, 55, died Oct. 2, 2022.
The son of Norman and Dorothy Patinka, Jim was born on March 20, 1967 in Chicago. On July 6, 1991, he married Sharon “Shari” Leora Wright in Norfolk, VA.
Jim served in the US Navy about the USS Spadefish #668 from 1986-92 where he met many lifelong friendships that he cherished.
Jim was a graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago where he majored in Geography.
In 2000, Jim and Shari moved to Saint Charles and raised their two daughters.
Jim was a very active member of the St. Charles VFW #5036 where he was the commander for 7 years, 2015-2022.
Jim centered his life around his family, his advocacy for veterans, and for supporting workers’ rights through union representation. He was extremely loyal, hard working, gentle, and kind. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for those that he loved.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Patinka, wife Shari Wright, brother Doug Patinka, daughters Alexandria and Samantha Patinka.
Visitations will be held at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles from 9am-12pm. immediately followed by a service of remembrance at 12:00pm.
