Joan Weistroffer, age 84, of Cocoa, FL (formally of St. Charles, IL, for 63 years), passed away in Melbourne, FL, on Thursday, February 2, 2023.  She was born on March 4, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the oldest of three children of Magdalen E. (Gedel) & Paul J. Randall.

Joan leaves Kenneth Weistroffer of Cocoa, FL (formally of St. Charles, IL), her loving husband of 66 years; a close sister, Pauline Mitchell of Lombard, IL; four beloved children: James (Edna) Weistroffer of St. Petersburg, FL, Catherine (Karl) Johnson of Altona, IL, Joseph (Tara) Weistroffer of Boyne City, MI, and Paul Weistroffer of Cocoa Beach, FL; three devoted grandchildren: Ross Weistroffer of Los Angeles, CA, Kendall Weistroffer of Reston, VA, and Grace Johnson of Altona, IL; many nieces and nephews; and her sweet Dachshund, Angel.

Her parents, her sister Camille (wife of William Kellogg), her grandson Luke Johnson, and her brothers-in-law Theodore Mitchell and William Kellogg predeceased her.

Joan graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s Academy Class of ’56 in St. Charles.  She worked as a nursing assistant at Community Hospital in Geneva; as a clerk at Geneva’s first health food store; as a receptionist for Wendell Clancy’s law firm, and then for several decades as a Deputy Circuit Clerk for Kane County’s Court.  Joan was a compassionate, sweet, innocent, and caring woman to all she met.

On February 20, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Visitation will be at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles.  Deacon James Mellin of St. Patrick’s Parish will recite the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Yurs following the Visitation.  A Christian burial Mass will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 400 W. Cedar Street, St. Charles, IL, on February 21, at 10:30 a.m.  Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Patrick Chapel in Geneva, IL.

Please consider donations in her memory to the Humane Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the staff at Health First Viera Hospital in Melbourne, Florida, for Joan’s excellent care.
