Jerome “Jerry” David  Schultz, age 83, died of natural causes, comfortably at home, on November 6, 2020.  He was born August 23, 1937 in Appleton Wisconsin to William “Luke” and Marguerite E. (Flynn) Schultz.

Jerome entered the UW-Oshkosh in 1955 and graduated with a business degree in 1959. While in college, he met the love of his life, Ruth Brotz, and they were married on January 28, 1961. After college he started a business career at Globe Union in Milwaukee, moved on to ER Wagner MFG, followed by Filtertek in Hebron, Illinois. Jerry purchased Sterling Systems Corporation in 1977 and loved going to work every single day. His motto was “buy for a nickel, sell it for a dollar, it’s habit forming.”  He was equally passionate about vintage racing, collecting antique cars, and shopping on Ebay.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Ruth (Brotz) Schultz, his two children, Susan (Robert) Butler, and Amy (David) Martinez. Six grandchildren, Lauren (Sean) Armbrust, Morgan Butler, Jacob Butler, Atara (James) Johnson, Alexander Martinez and Christian Martinez as well as three great-grandchildren, Aiden Armbrust, Claire and Eleanor Johnson.

Due to Covid restrictions the family will be having a private service with immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic School 787 Crane Road St. Charles, Illinois 60175.

Ellen Bogest Dini from West Chicago , IL

"Sue and Family,I’m sorry for the loss of your Father:/Grandfather. He made me laugh as he would always call me by my entire name. No one ever did that!"

Roberta Cleary from Oak Brook, IL

"I am so saddened to learn about the passing of Jerry. When they made Jerry, they threw away the mold. I cherish the years I had knowing Jerry first through business and then friendship. No one was more devoted to his wife than Jerry. He talked about her constantly and had a wicked sense of humor. The biggest thrill had to be having his extended family in the business. He persevered through tremendous pain and operations."
