Joan Gray Wagner was born in Aurora, IL., on November 20,1951. She was the daughter of Edward Elisha Gray, Jr. and Lois Iverson Gray. She was raised in Bloomington, IL., where father worked at the family business, Gray Stamping. Upon the death of her father, the family moved back to Aurora, to be closer to family members from  Lisbon and Newark, IL. She graduated from West Aurora High school class of 1969. She attended Carthage College, where she met friends, she had continued to communicate with until her passing. Joan was a beautiful woman and person, with her beautiful red hair and smile to go with it. She battled long and hard with her arthritis and, most recently cancer. She had a fun personality and was, almost, always glad to participate with any party or adventure her husband Mike could think up.

She was preceeded, in death, by her father, Edward Elisha Gray, Jr., her Mother Lois Gray Mitchell (nee Iverson), and her stepfather, Jack Mitchell.

She was the best homemaker, wife, best friend, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her Very Lucky, husband of 48+ years, Mike Wagner. She also leaves behind her children, Michael J. Wagner, Jr. (Tessa Ray Wagner) of Batavia IL. Nathan Edward Wagner (Annette Luyten Wagner) of Mukwonago, Wisc. And Elizabeth Gray Wagner Freidin of Park Ridge, IL. (Matt). She had 21 nieces and nephews.

She was Grammy Joan to James Wagner, Batavia IL., Everett Freidin, Margot Freidin and Gemma Freidin, of Park Ridge, IL.

She is also survived by her sister, and best friend, Carolyn Kraft (Bob) from North Aurora, IL. And her brother Ed (Bud) Gray from Alaska.

Another Special Friend and Long- time “partner -in – crime” Jane Orr Downing, a friend since Junior High.

Besides her family, she loved gardening, and finding that “special something” at antique shops all over the world. She was an AVID Beatles Fan, from the early 60s., after having seen them perform in Cincinnati, OH., when she was a young teen.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Yurs Funeral Home St. Charles. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M Friday at St. Patrick Catholic Church 400 Cedar Street St. Charles.
