JOANNE MAYER
Joanne Mayer died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, March 14, 2019, at River Glen Senior Living Facility in St. Charles, Illinois.
Joanne was born June 24, 1931 in Chicago Illinois. She graduated from Amundsen High School. Joanne married Jack, a mechanical engineer, shortly after high school. They moved to Hoffman Estates in 1959 and raised 3 children, John, Kathy, and Jack. She worked as a secretary at Conant High School for many years. After her children graduated from high school, the family moved to Bartlett, to enjoy life, in what was then, the country. Her husband Jack died in 1987. Shortly after, Joanne moved to Del Webb in Huntley.
Joanne was an avid swimmer and tennis player. She loved being outdoors gardening and could identify any plant or tree and know where and how it could best survive. Her dog was always at her side wherever she lived. She was also a pretty darn good piano player and loved to travel. After her active lifestyle tapered off, she loved playing cards and bingo with friends. Joanne always wanted to do activities with family and friends, and she was extremely fun to be around.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Carlson, husband Jack, and son Jack. She is survived by her son John (Mary), Whitewater, WI., daughter Kathy, Sugar Grove, IL., grandson David (Angel), Whitewater, WI., and great grandchildren Nevaeh and Elijah.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, IL.
