"Renae and Family: How can one even begin to feel the pain and sadness that one has endured over their years. Renae, it would take a novel for Larry put into words the many memories he shared with Jodie, Jack, and now Joel. We hope God gives you all strength through this all and bless you with many memories of the good times. Our love goes out to you and your family, and we will keep you in our prayers."

Heidi Sulaski Flanagan from Wheaton, IL

"So many great memories “growing up” with Joel…riding in the way back of our station wagon on the way to HC sporting events. Or running around in the balcony at HC basketball games. I’m sad I didn’t stay close to him over the years. Prayers for peace to the Harrison family."

Rik Geiersbach from Hinsdale, IL

"Gone too soon. I really enjoyed catching up with Joel a few years back at a Community House Ball (in the same gym where kids now play "Jodie" youth basketball!). Always the character, he could command our attention with his antics. Others have mentioned the twinkle in his eye. Totally true - part mischief, part playful, always good natured. Our condolences to the entire family. Joel is somewhere up there shooting jumpers (oh, what a sweet, sweet shot he had) trying to beat his Dad in a game of HORSE. We'll miss you"

Charles Bernardini from Chicago, IL

"Joel's passing leaves a hole in Chicago. His outgoing personality made him liked by all in Lincoln Park, where he worked for me in my aldermanic office for 5 years, as our liaison with the business community and senior citizens. His government experience led Cook County to hire him in the Clerk of the Court office, where they recognized his people skills and where he rapidly advanced. In his spare time, he helped out in Lincoln Park's most popular sports bar, where of course he was a natural. Kudos and thanks to Jodie and Renae for this great young man they gave us, whose smile will always stay with us."

Jennifer Jacobs Coffey from Hinsdale, IL

"Sending my condolences to Joel’s family. I went to grade school St. Isaac Jogues, High school Hinsdale Central and college Eastern Illinois with Joel. Always felt a special bond with him because of all our shared experiences. Loved watching him play basketball at HC and EIU. Lots of great memories. May he rest in peace."

Daniel L. Hollenbach from River Forest, IL
