John E. Diorio, age 80, of Joliet, formerly of Lansing, Illinois passed away Monday, November 7, 2022 at his home.

He was born November 5, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Alex Andrew and Stella (nee Maryianowski) Diorio,

John is survived by his wife of 55 years, JoAnn, three children, Nick (Dana) Diorio, Ginger (Brian) Watta and Jill (the late Mike) Sitterly, seven grandchildren, Nina (Joe) Ogden, Dylan (fiancee Tasha Schaffer) Diorio, Madison Watta, Cody Sitterly, Logan Watta, Riley Sitterly and Casey Sitterly, two brothers, Joseph Diorio and Andrew (Bernie) Diorio and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John spent four years in the Navy. He was proud to serve on the USS SOMERS, which he enjoyed telling stories about his experiences. He was an employee of Ford Motor Company for 33 years. John enjoyed his yearly vacations to Rhinelander, Wisconsin, where he spent plenty of time fishing. His love for the lake led him and his wife, JoAnn, to buying a log cabin of their own. Here, the two of them got to spend quality time with each other, family, and friends. John was a lover of White Castle, antique toasters, and Chicago sports teams. He and JoAnn enjoyed playing Scrabble, at all hours of the day, and sometimes night; even if it resulted in him losing to her.  John loved spoiling his grandkids and he was looking forward to becoming a great grandfather to his soon to be great granddaughter.

Funeral mass will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 11th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brook Forest Avenue, Shorewood.  Burial will be at St. Mary Immacualte Cemetery, Plainfield. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10th from 3-8:00 P.M. at Fred C. Dames Joliet Chapel, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet
