John Sheehan, aged 83, passed away on December 26, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family. Born on June 22, 1940, in Chicago to John (Jack) and Catherine (Kayo) Sheehan, John’s journey was one marked by diverse experiences and a profound commitment to family.

John initially embraced a spiritual path in the seminary before graduating from DePaul University. He went on to various roles—a dedicated school teacher, a compassionate figure in human resources at Blue Cross Blue Shield, and a skilled computer programmer for American Energy Management and CenterPoint Energy.

This Christmas held a unique significance as John’s daughter and grandchildren shared precious moments with him, both collectively and individually, creating beautiful and enduring memories for everyone to cherish.

John, a thoughtful soul with a love for philosophy and music, lived a life defined by kindness and love. He is survived by his daughter Lisa (Sheehan-Nootens) Schutz, grandchildren Nicholas, Kathleen, and Madeline (Schutz), and ex-wives Jacqueline (Nootens) and Joanne (Kos). John’s legacy of love extends through the generations.

John is preceded in death by his brothers Timothy, Michael, and Terrance Sheehan.

A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 am at St. Clement’s Church, 642 W Deming Pl, Chicago, followed by interment at St. Boniface Cemetery, 4901 N Clark St, Chicago.

Condolences

Joanne Kos from Tucson, AZ

"My heart is saddened with the loss of John. My heart goes out to Lisa who took such good care of him as well as her children and the whole extended family. We are a strangely civilized extended family where John was concerned due mostly to his kind spirit and loving heart. Rest in peace John boy and put in a good word for us. Love JoJo"

"Deepest sympathy and love to Lisa and Family. Though I have not seen John in many years I have never forgotten the Sheehan family ties that our Moms & Dads created for all of us cousins. Much love & peace to all."
