John J. Donnelly, Sr. 89, born on May 12, 1932 to Thomas and Martha (Brogan) Donnelly in Sharon Hill, PA, passed away September 9, 2021. John graduated from St. James High School in Chester, PA, St.Joseph’s College, IN, (1955) BS in Business Administration and Loyola University, Chicago, MBA. He was honorably discharged as 1st Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he married Michelle LaMarre on June 29, 1957 in Kankakee, Illinois. They were married for 62 years until her death on January 29, 2020. Together, they had six children: Claudia (David) Kliment, Jody (Bill) Gill, Judy (Mike) Prosecky, John Jr., Nancy (Jim) McGinnity, Mary Beth (Bob) Jones. John and Michelle were grandparents to 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. John was employed by Hawley Products in 1965 and was promoted to Vice President in 1974. In November 1978, he was named President. John was President and CEO of Applied Composites until 1995. John loved St. Charles and was very involved in community affairs including the Police and Fire Commission, past president of the Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Kiwanis Club. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church and St. John Neumann and served in the Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Mass will take place on October 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s on Crane Road in St. Charles, Illinois. |
