Obituaries

Joseph Paul Mendell (88) went home to Jesus on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his home in St. Charles, IL of natural causes. He was born in Chicago, IL on May 19, 1929 to Joseph and Clara Mendell of Lyons, IL.

During his life, Joe’s love of singing and playing music took him from school bands and vocal contests to his service with the 2^nd Division Infantry Band in Korea, to a lifetime of recording, singing and playing his music for generations of Chicagoland family events.

Joe is survived by his siblings: George Mendell of Phoenix, AZ, Caroline Jurmu-Kaplan (Paul) of Temple, TX, and Frank Mendell of Lisle, IL; children: Lorine Stoikowitz (Tom) of Bradbury, CA, Jeanneen Griffin (Dan) of Rockport, ME, Cyndi Mendell of Norfolk, NE; step-children: Julie Plezbert of Ithica, NY, Jean Busto (Mike) of Seattle, WA; grandchildren: Juliaclare Plezbert of Bartlesville, OK, Samantha Plezbert of Lisle, IL, Cole Mendell of Ft. Collins, CO; and step-grandson Jonathan Busto of Seattle, WA.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, brother Norman, wives Marcella and Colleen Mendell; children Dawnmarie Mendell, Vanessa Mendell-Plezbert, and stepson David Plezbert.

Visitation will be 2-5:00 P.M. Sunday, February 18^th, at Yurs Funeral Home 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 19^th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Rd., St. Charles, IL 60175.
