"My heart is aching right now. I was one of three that played golf with Joe 3 days a week at the Highlands of Elgin golf course. Joe, was always smiling and upbeat. I took the game more seriously and got easily upset when my play was not what I expected. Joe on the other hand was just the opposite. He reacted the same way no matter if he was playing bad or good. Always very calm and positive. One round a few weeks ago I hit a drive and it appeared that it may have landed in a sand trap. I said to Joe, I think that's in the bunker. Joe responded, "Mike, you need to be positive." So I said, Okay, Joe! I'm positive that I hit it in the bunker. I can still hear his laugh. Even though this was the first year that I played with Joe, he became a good friend and my only wish is that I knew him longer than I did. May his memory be a blessing. Rest in peace my friend!"

"The world has lost a very special man. Joe was a kind, caring, supportive, gentle man. He will be missed. When we met Joe, a friend of Martha's, we knew right away what high of character he was. Thank you Lord for allowing us to share time with him. Jerry enjoyed playing golf with Joe while Martha and Sandy enjoyed catching up over lunch. May he rest in peace."
