Joyce Evelyn Krick, age 95, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at home with her daughter, Joye, and son-in-law Dennis Mahoney in St. Charles, IL. We would like to thank all of the fantastic Doctors, nurses and aides at the Delnor and CDH hospital facilities, Covenant Living at the Holmstad, Michaelsen Health Center and Kindred Hospice staff for their special care and compassion to make her comfortable in her final days before returning to the Lord.

Joyce was born in Pauls Valley, OK and then the family moved to Shawnee, OK her senior year in H.S. where she graduated in 1944. She worked at Tinker Field as a “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII. After the war she met and married (1947) the love of her life James Krick from IL. They were married 75 years, a feat few can boast of! Soon they had one daughter, Joye and life centered around their family of three.

Joyce took great pride in being a homemaker and her home was always immaculate and organized. These skills aided her as a Banquet Manager for 12 years with Howard Johnson’s in Joliet, IL. She loved all the holidays and crafted for each with the help of James. After retirement they went back to OK, gardened and canned together sharing with all. They enjoyed traveling in their motor home and could be found at the river camping, fishing, collecting antiques and reading. A special light came in her eyes when her only grand daughter (Kindel), was near. She became the doting grandmother and great gran to three great grandsons. Not only was Joyce a twin but her granddaughter had twin boys as well.

Survivors include her beloved husband who is 103 years old, James C. Krick; daughter Joye Mahoney (Dennis), granddaughter Kindel Rogers (Jordan) and 3 great grandsons, Brantley, Trenton and Greyson all of Saint Charles, IL plus many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Irene and Johnny Stephens, 3 brothers, John (Louise), Gene (Mickey), Howard (Lou) Stephens; and her twin sister, Lois Burns (Charles).

Joyce was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee and a woman of faith, believing, “I am God’s child and I will share His treasures, for everything God gives to Christ, is mine too.Romans 8:17

Private funeral services will be in Shawnee, OK at a later date.
