Kathleen Deirdre Krispin, 75, died Sunday, February 27th, after a 7-year battle with Alzheimers. She was greatly loved by her husband, sons, granddaughter and their families.

The daughter of Earl and Margaret Smith, Kathleen was born on October 19, 1946, in Berwyn, IL. On May 19, 1984, she married Gregory Mark Krispin at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. (Watch it by searching YouTube for: Greg and Kathleen Krispin Wedding). She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a degree in speech therapy. After graduation, she moved to London, England, and worked for the government locating and securing housing for new immigrants. During her two years there, she toured Europe extensively and had a wonderful time.

Upon her return to the United States, she enrolled in the Master’s program at Northwestern University graduating with a degree in Communications. It was there she discovered her talent and love for writing, which served her well for many years as a free-lance writer. She met her husband, Greg, at WLS-TV in Chicago, where she wrote and produced the station’s editorials for several years. Kathleen had a smile that would light up her whole face and endear her to everyone she ever met. She loved to laugh and did so often. She leaves a legacy of warm and loving memories for all who knew her.

Survivors include her loving husband Greg, sons Mark (Kendra), Sean (Megan) Krispin, granddaughter Lillian, her brother Kevin (Blythe) Smith, sisters Abigail Smith and Melissa Martin, and many dear nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her infant son Jeffrey in 1987, her father Earl in 2004, her brother Stephen in 2006 and her mother Margaret in 2011.
