KENNETH MELTON WARD (December 3, 1936 – December 24, 2021)

Age 85      passed away in his sleep at home in the loving arms of his family in South Elgin, IL on December 24, 202.

Ken Ward, a Marine, a resident of South Elgin, IL., co-owner of Holtz and Ward; Light of the World and That Man is Your ministries. He was a Licensed Plumber, former South Elgin Police Officer, and Elgin Peewee Football League Coach for 20+ years.  Ken was a member of the North American Railcar Operators Association. He played on and managed several 12” softball teams.  Founded the St. Charles Merchants 12” Softball Team winner of several Illinois State Tournaments.

In his early career worked in the Aurora, Elgin and Fox River Electric Company (age 15), Locomotive Engineer for the Elgin Chicago Gravel Pit, Plumbing Equipment Company, Office Manager for Baumgartner Plumbing in St. Charles, transitioned into a construction company partnership and retired from Harper College’s Physical Plant in 2012, after 20 years of service to the college.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, daughters Tammy (Phil) Howard, Jennifer (Craig) Dehmlow and sons Thomas (Brenda) Bradley, James (Aimee) Ward, Kenneth (Hope) Bradley, and Scott (Ruby)Ward; grandchildren  Amy (Tim) Emery, Michael (Nicole) Bradley, Melanie (Matt) Taylor, Courtney (TJ) Wright, Gia (Steven) Matheny, Kimberly Bradley, Philip Howard, Ashley Ward, Kelly Ward, Kyler Ward, Casslyn (Tyler) Thoman, Serena Ward, Serianna Dehmlow, Steele Dehmlow, Maverick Dehmlow,  Nate Bradley, Tessa Bradley, Josh Ceinega  and great grandchildren Wyatt Emery, Owen Emery, Madison Bradley, Charlotte Bradley, Luke Matheny, Claire Matheny, John Wright, and Taos Taylor.

Ken is proceeded in death by his parents Clarence and Margaret Ward; in-laws Truman T. Stevens and Catherine L. (Kay) Stevens, his brother-in-law Francis Miller and nephews Truman Stevens III, and Charles Miller.

There will be no Visitation (Covid-19) a Funeral Mass will be 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at St. Patrick Crane Road Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles, Illinois 60175. He will be buried in the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery 20953 W. Huff Road in Elwood, IL. 60421. In lieu of flowers donations to the Corbella Clinic at 101 E. State Street in South Elgin, IL 60177.
