Linda Briggs, 68, passed away on Nov. 14th in her home with her family by her side.

Daughter of George and Marilyn Holbrook, Linda was born on August 13th, 1951, in Chicago, IL. On December 14th, 1974 she married Greg Briggs at Mary, Seat of Wisdom Catholic Church in Park Ridge. A devoted mother of three, she raised her family in Aurora and North Aurora.

She received her Master’s degree in Education and served as a school teacher in the Batavia School District for 35 years. The majority of her career was spent at Alice Gustafson School where she taught many young “Gators” the same values that she lived by.  She brought her own creativity into her teaching, always coming up with new ways to reach her students.  Kids were always excited to find out that they were in Mrs. Briggs’ class.

She was a loving mother and wife. She was caring, patient, selfless, funny, smart, and beautiful. Even through her fight and in tough times, she exuded grace, a sense of humor, and compassion for others.  There was no obstacle that she didn’t face head on with perseverance and a positive attitude.  She enjoyed vacations with her family, taking care of her beautiful garden, crafting mittens, and could always be found reading a good book.

She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Greg Briggs.

Survivors also include daughter Kristen (Randy), sons; Matt and Jeff (Delaney); granddaughters Audrey, Emelia, Sophia and Brooklyn. She was supported by a strong circle of longtime friends and family.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 18th at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1820 Church Road, Aurora, IL 60505. Visitation will proceed on Sunday, November 17th from 2-6pm at Yurs Funeral Home 1771 W. State Street, Geneva, IL 60134.

Donations in Linda’s memory may be made to the Fox Valley Food for Health. This organization helped Linda and her family, among many others who are experiencing the effects of cancer (Address: Box 532
