Lisa Olinger, 55, went to Heaven on July 19, surrounded by her loving family. She was greatly loved by her husband, children and grandchild, her parents and sisters, and her countless students who fondly know her as Miss Lisa.
Lisa is the daughter of Larry and Carol Johnson, and was born June 12, 1967 in Chicago. On July 8, 1989, she married the love of her life, Keith Olinger at St. Isidore church in Bloomingdale, IL.
She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University where she earned her early childhood education degree as well as a master’s degree in education.
Lisa was an early childhood pre-school teacher who loved every one of her kiddos, both typically developing as well as special needs. Her heart was guided towards the special needs kiddos as she loved her “rolling kids”, autistic kids, and those with other special needs. Prior to teaching she spent most of her working days at Marklund Children’s home for severely and profoundly handicapped children and young adults. Throughout her year-and-a-half long illness, not being able to teach was by far the hardest part for her. In this way, and so many other ways, she was truly a faithful servant of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Her husband’s prayer for her through this illness, given her faithful servitude, was rooted in Matthew 25:40; “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Lisa is survived by her Husband, Keith Olinger, daughter Jessica, son Nathan and daughter Delaney, granddaughter Maeve, parents Larry and Carol Johnson (Saflarski), sisters Cari (Andrew) Rae and Melanie Johnson, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
A Memorial Visitation will be at Yurs Funeral Home at 405 East Main Street, Saint Charles, at 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday, July 23rd with a Memorial Service following the visitation at Noon. Cremation rights are accorded.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Lisa Olinger to aamds.org at http://www.aamds.org/donate and please select Aplastic Anemia Research as the cause you would like your donation to help. This helped Lisa and Keith understand the disease, and provided support resources that helped them through the process.

"Our daughter was struggling with some anxiety and social issues when she was 4. She enrolled in the program at Fox Ridge to receive some extra help. We were nervous about how this would go for her. We needn't have worried. Lisa was her teacher, and our daughter was in excellent hands. Lisa was so gentle and patient with her class, clearly so competent and caring. She adjusted to the tough work of video teaching during the second semester, still showing up for her students in whatever way she could. She was an amazing teacher, and I'm so sad for the students who won't get to experience her as an educator. I'm deeply sorry for her family as they mourn her loss."
Tony & Patti Zaputil from West Chicago, IL

"I was fortunate to work with Lisa for many years in D303 and found her to be a truly remarkable teacher and advocate for both young children and their families. She loved and cared for all of her students deeply and always saw them through the lens of their strengths and capabilities. Lisa has had such a positive impact on our EC community in D303 and across the State.....her expertise will be sorely missed. Thank you, Lisa, for all you have shared and thank you to her family for sharing her with all of us Joyce"
