Marcia Jo Tonchick, nee Waszak, age 72, of Winfield, IL died on Saturday December 28th, 2024. Born December 26th, 1952 to Joseph and Evelyn (Czajkowski) Waszak. Beloved wife of James Tonchick; loving mother of Jessica (Nathan) Gavzer and Mark Tonchick. Devoted Grandmother of Meyer Gavzer. Dearest Sister of Gary (Ruth) Waszak and the late Mark and Monica Waszak. 

Marcia graduated from Dwight D Eisenhower High School in 1970. She graduated from University of Illinois Chicago in 1974 where she earned her degree in Education and also met her husband James. She dedicated her career to teaching, working in West Chicago at Gary Elementary School and Indian Knoll School Elementary School. She was passionate about educating young minds and was highly regarded by her students and colleagues alike. 

Marcia’s love of animals was well known to all who knew her. She adored her dogs Cinders, Ringo, Yoda, Carlee, Rosie and Cooper, who brought her great joy and companionship. 

Visitation will be held January 2nd from 4-8pm, and the Memorial Service on January 3rd at 10am, both taking place at Yurs Funeral Homes of St. Charles, 405 East Main Street, St. Charles, IL.  Internment will be at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL. 

Donations in Marcia’s honor may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
